[ Standing outside Kotone's door now felt the way that it had in the month before Mitsuru arrived at Avalon ... it felt as though she would open the door, and see an empty room that carried only an echo of her friend, reverberating through the space she should have occupied. And in some sense, that might very well be the case ... it all depended on the would follow.
[ It stunned her. Caused her to hesitate until the silence and all that it dragged up out of her memory became unbearable.
[ She couldn't stay here, surrounded by it, so she pressed forward as she said she would.
[ She reached out, and broke the silence with a knock on the door. ]
